The Hawley Silk Mill

Originally the Bellemonte Silk Mill, the facility was built by the Dexter, Lambert & Company in 1880 and operated as a silk mill from 1880-1956.  It was the first large scale silk factory in northeastern Pennsylvania.  To this day, it is still the largest laid bluestone building in the world, and has a rich history of alternative energy use, once being powered by the water of the Paupack Creek behind the building.  The mill has always been, and now continues to be, an important regional economic and historic resource to the northeastern Pennsylvania region. 

The Hawley Silk Mill is a 12 million dollar revitalization project in the historic Bellmonte Silk Mill, now housing Lackawanna College, Maternal Family Health Sercices, Red Stone Run Realty, LockData Technologies, Attorney Tony Waldron, Attorney Steve Guccini, Schwartz Wealth Management, Northeast Innovation Alliance, Wayne Pike Red Cross, 4Sea-Sun Photography, Renewed Harmony Reiki, Hemaclear, Kelley Magee Counseling, The News Eagle, 84 Country Store, Wayne County Arts Alliance Shop, Harmony Presents, Lake Region Fitness, Alpak Station, 5th Avenue Salone and Spa and the Cocoon Coffee House.
