Home Buying Considerations

Before deciding which house to buy, think about your lifestyle, your current and anticipated housing needs, and your budget.

It’s a good idea to make yourself a list of features to search for in your next home, you’ll have to strike a balance between “must haves” and “nice-to haves”.

First, think of your lifestyle: if you love to cook, you’ll want a well equipped kitchen.  If you have a several, cars, you may require a larger garage.

Next, think about what you may need in the future.  When considering housing needs, its important to have an idea of how long you may be living in your home.

Maybe in a few years you’ll need to look at school districts for your expanding family, or if you have aging parents, you may want to look at homes that offer living arrangements for them as well as you.

You’ll also need to consider location; in addition to considering the distance to work, also take into account the availability of shopping and medical facilities, as well as mundane needs like parking and garbage collection.

Through all of this, make sure to talk to your real estate professional about where you want to live.  While more buyers use the internet to gain access to listings, it is still a good idea to use an agent.  We bring value to the process by helping to analyze data, answering your questions, and assisting with all the paperwork and legwork involved.
